Are Your Teeth Safe This Holiday Season?

One of the best times of the year for many people in the United States is the Holiday Season.  It is a time where so much joy is spread and people are able to be together.  It is a time to enjoy each other's company and reconnect for many after a long 2020.  It is also a time where most of us enjoy indulging in lots of seasonal snacks and drinks.  I know that on my end I start off most mornings during this time of year with a specialty coffee.  That is something I have regularly done in the past and now knowing what I know I am not sure I will do it again.  It is the Holiday season now and the first snow just took place.  That has let me know that I am getting excited about my specialty drinks but it has also put my mind on notice after my research that I should be careful what I drink and eat this season due to the damage it may be causing to my teeth.  This is the one time of the year when our dental health gets attacked the most and it can lead to a lot of pain and very expensive trips to the Dentist.  So I want to go over some ways to protect your teeth and to make sure you are on track for a healthy holiday.

The first thing that most people should do is to prepare the best way they can.  Instead of seeing the dentist when you are in need of a major dental procedure go and see your dentist now to prevent that need.  I think seeing where you are from a professional and getting a good plan for the HOlidays for your specific dental needs is the best route to go through.  None of our mouths are the same and our dental health is specific to each of us.  So make sure you save money by getting a checkup to see what you actually need to do to be safe this holiday.  Now that my best advice is done with here are some tips to stay healthy this holiday.

I think that it is going to be very important for us to be careful about what we eat and drink this holiday.  I know that I plan on watching my diet more closely this year and making sure I am not going out and getting that specialty coffee every morning.  I know that by drinking those in the past I was breaking down my tooth enamel and allowing my teeth to be stained very easily.  It was an issue with my own health that I know I can easily change by saving money and not drinking those sweet tasty drinks.  But I do still plan on probably having one a week and I think that is still ok.

It is ok because I am also now on a really good dental routine to brush my teeth twice a day with a high in fluoride toothpaste.  It is protecting my teeth from the coffee and I even have mini tooth brushes ready to go when I get one so I can brush my teeth at lunch after I drink those special drinks.
